Today I'm sharing the inspiration behind our second Wedding Collection design: The Chatham Suite. If you missed the first post in this series, click here.
The Chatham Suite started off with a slightly different vision, but after working through the design several times, I felt that it finally represented the wedding I pictured in my mind. The Cape holds many memories of my childhood - we vacationed there every summer from the time I was a toddler, through high school. Chatham - to me - always represented the traditional, quintessential Cape experience. The historic venues, the beautiful homes, the stories told in it's history... all of that is where I drew my inspiration from, for this suite.
I pictured this wedding to be simple but elegant, full of understated nautical details and personal touches. Blues and grays, centerpieces made of reclaimed wood and a slightly preppy aesthetic.
The design of the Chatham Suite was really fun to work through: the concept was based on the idea of a wedding weekend, and I wanted the suite to include all of those special elements. As always, I believe the unexpected details on this suite are what made it feel complete: luxurious extra-thick paper, a full patterned liner and of course, gorgeous calligraphy from Sincerely Amy Designs.
