November is a month full of many emotions for me: mostly gratitude, but also some sadness. November 28th marks 7 years since we said goodbye to my brother. Craig and I had just gotten engaged, and were in the midst of planning our wedding and buying a house, when our entire world was turned upside-down, and I entered a club I never wanted to be a part of.
Since becoming a mom, November holds much more meaning for me. Every day I'm reminded of my many many blessings, and most especially, the 3 little boys that I get to come home to every night. Losing my brother taught me so much about myself, and about life, and most importantly, living it to the very fullest. Because of him, I've chased my dreams, I love big, and I never take a day with those little faces for granted.
Last year, I wanted to find a way to both honor both my brother's memory, and to give back for the many blessings in my life. Despite the things I may think are hard or challenging... being a full-time working mom to three active boys, coming home and working until the wee-hours on my business, balancing a full schedule of sports and trips and volunteer work... all of that pales in comparison to families who are fighting for more time with their children.
I was introduced to St. Jude Children's Hospital a few years ago, and their mission is incredibly humbling. They are the pioneers in childhood cancer research, and share their findings FREELY with doctors across the world. No child or family EVER pays for treatment. No one dime for medicine, housing, food, consultations or transportation. Think about that. These families get to focus on their children, first and foremost, without ever worrying about how to pay for their treatment. I can stand behind that. I will willingly donate to St. Jude before many other charities, because I know that every dollar is helping continue that legacy.
I'm excited to announce that $3 from every sale in November will go directly to St. Jude, and will hopefully be a small blessing to a family or child that needs it the most.
